dear kentucky,

     i finally wrote a song about you. i’m currently sitting in the same place i wrote the first verse my freshman year of high school. ya know, the one you were always telling me to write because that’s the only way i could truly appreciate you. you told me to simply take some time away, work out my mind, and come back when i understand who you really are to me. i did what you requested of me and now i’m back. isn’t that funny? you always find yourself back at the beginning. where everything started and then your roots extended into the rich earth to build a foundation so your branches could reach farther than you ever imagined. i say all of this to let you know that you were the beginning for me and have been the one constant through this incredibly ridiculous journey they call life. you were there when the two roads diverged in the yellow wood and inspired me to take the one less traveled by. thank you.
